Telehack Basic Prompt


BASIC is a "High-Level Programming Language" that has been used since 1964. It stands for Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code. Dartmouth College invented the language, calling it "Dartmouth BASIC". Today, it is commonly associated with Microsoft Visual Basic.

It is possibly to write .bas files here in Telehack. On any system, type "basic" at the @ prompt. It runs the Darthmouth DTSS TeleBASIC BASIC Programming software. You can load any .bas file and edit it, even write your own. After this, you can actually save it to the @ prompt's directory. Simply type "dir" and run the file you saved.
